We want to congratulate Syndee Sartor for receiving this years Environmental Studies Scholarship. Here’s a little about her:

What interested you in your program?
I am interested in caring for our planet and mitigating climate change, but I also
know that I am interested in teaching others and doing community outreach of
some sort. For these reasons, the ecological literacy and social change emphasis
seemed to be the perfect combination of what I was interested in and I think it will
definitely help me on my career path.

How will receiving this scholarship benefit you?
This takes a huge financial burden off of me. I will now be able to focus on undergraduate research or an
internship without worrying about having another job to supplement my income. It opens up many more
opportunities that would have previously been off the table because they were unpaid or only offered a
small stipend

Tell us about yourself.

I was born and raised in Salt Lake City. I enjoy working with kids, reading, and doing almost anything
outdoors. I feel very lucky to live here and be able to take part in all the outdoor activities that Utah has to
offer. I hope to one day help instill a love of the earth in others and share with them how to live sustainably
and healthily so that it is here for others in the future!
